This show is about seeing wether the question “is love truly blind?” is real or not. While watching this show it made me think that this show is having people put aside the female and male divine. The contestants are forced to fall for the persons personality rather than their looks. So instead of seeing a blonde blue eyed slim woman and falling for her the man instead falls for the inner qualities like their soul and mannerisms. The same goes for the women, they cannot fall for the abs and height but instead for who the man is.

They eventually do see each other face to face but only after they have made their decision on who they want to be with. For some it works out and for others it obviously does not. It was nice to see people try to not fall for the outer beauty but instead fall for a persons inner soul. The female and male divine were put aside and not made to be the main selling point.

This is not about any type of movie, show, or song. I did not find the Female Divine by watching a RomCom or listening to a cheesy song. I found the Female Divine in my mother. Today my mom had a seizure and my whole world was turned upside down. As I was sitting in the house while my parents were at the hospital I thought about all the things I could not do without her. She is not only one of the strongest woman I know but she is my safe space. She is not only smart but beautiful which I feel like is the definition of the Female Divine. A woman that can stand up for what she believes in and stand up for others when they cannot. As I sat there thinking about how she keeps my dad and I’s lives together I realized that she is the Female Divine.

This woman runs our lives and without her we would be so lost. Just like the Female Divine, without women the world would not exits. We are powerful, strong, and all of this while being the epitome of beauty. The world takes strong women for granted and we need to remember to thank these strong women because without them we literally would not exist.

So during this quarantine it has come to a point where if I am not doing homework then I am watching something on Netflix. Because what else is there to do? Recently my parents and I watched the movie Freedom Writers. I forgot how great this movie is, how inspiring and powerful the story is. The lead role in the movie, Erin Gruwell, is played by Hilary Swank and the basic plot of the story is Mrs. Gruwell is a high school teacher for an underprivileged community, she helps them along their journey of education and life. I watched this movie when I was younger and wished I had a teacher that was so involved and passionate. How much better my school experience would be if I had someone who cared not only about the class learning but cared about students as individuals. I see Erin Gruwell as the Female Divine because she is everything that I want to be as a teacher. She saw these children as more than anyone had ever seen them before. Most of the students came from a poor background and were involved with some type of violent lifestyle. She did not not that tarnish her view of them though, she still saw them as teenagers who needed her as a teacher and as a support system. She inspires me to be more than an educator to students and always remember to listen to them not just think you understand them.

This is the real Erin Gruwell with her class.

Reality TV is such a big genre in our lives today. There is cooking reality TV, fashion reality TV, and the most watched of them all drama reality TV. While rewatching old Jersey Shores I realized that these shows make women looks stupid and like they have no respect for themselves. There are even times when the girls on the show go after each other for hooking up with someone. Or they go after other girls that the boy bring home, calling them dirty or sluts. I did not like how they were not only portraying the girls but also portraying each other.

Even one of the boys, Ronnie, pointed out that it makes no difference who is bringing home who. Everyone should be able to do what they want without getting judged. This is how the women should be acting so it was odd that a man was pointing this out. Does this mean that he is the Female Divine? Since he was the one to say that women can be smart and strong while stile being sexual. Can a man be the Female Divine? I am going to say yes and give props to Ron for sticking up for women everywhere even when women are the ones putting each other down. Good job Ronnie!

For my last blog post I am going to talk about the female divine in the movie 8th Grade written and directed by Bo Burnham. In this movie you see a 13 year old girl just trying to survive middle school, the worse times in everyones lives. She seems to have no real friends but puts herself out there to try and make some. We see her pretend to be something she is not and she realizes the hard way that pretending to be someone you are not will not get you friends either. To me she is the female divine because she puts herself out there, which at 13 is hard to do. Finally when she lets her true self out she also stands up to the people who have been nothing but rude to her. That is another reason I see her as the female divine, she stands up for herself when she needs to. By the end of the film she has found a real friend who makes her feel comfortable in her own skin. Kayla Day may be young but she shows viewers that even at a young age you can be the female divine.
